new green day out today

bought it this morning and drove around for like 3 hours listening to it.

I really, really dig it. there aren't like as many fist-pumping kick ass rock songs, but overall I felt like it was superb.

8.5/10

I've heard "Know Your Enemy" so many times on the radio now that I have put off giving the album a listen. The song was overplayed before the CD even came out.

I am diggin this album, well,at least half of it which is pretty damn good.

My favorite 2 so far>🙂

Horseshoes and Handgrenades lyrics

I'm not fucking around
I think I'm coming out
All the deciever and cheaters
I've think we've got a bleeder right now
Want you to slap me around
Want you to knock me out
Well, you missed me kissed me
Now you better kick me down

Maybe you're the runner up
But the first one to lose the race
Almost only really counts in
Horsehoes and hand grenades

I'm gonna burn it all down
I'm gonna rip it out
Well, everything that you employ
Was meant for me to destory
To the ground now
So don't you fuck me around
Because I'll shoot you down
I'm gonna drink, fight and fuck
And pushing my luck
All the time now

Maybe you're the runner up
But the first one to lose the race
Almost only really counts in
Horsehoes and hand grenades

Demolition, self-destruction
What to annihilate
The age-old contradiction
Demolition, self-destruction
What to annihilate
The old age

I'm not fucking around
I think I'm coming out
All the deceivers and cheaters
I've think we've got a bleeder right now
I'm not fucking around
G-L-O-R-I-A

East Jesus Nowhere lyrics

Raise your hands to testify
Your confession will be crucified
You're a sacrificial suicide
Like a dog that's been sodomized
Stand up! - all the white boys
Sit down! - all the black girls
You're the soldiers of the new world

Put your faith in a miracle
And it's non-denominational
Join the choir we will be singing
In the church of wistful thinking

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the faith fanatics

Oh bless me Lord for I have sinned
It's been a lifetime since I last confessed
I threw my crutches in "the river
Of a shadow of doubt"
And I'll be dressed in my sunday best

Say a prayer for the family
Drop a coin for humanity
Ain't this uniform so flattering?
I never asked you a goddamned thing

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the faith fanatics

Don't test me
Second guess me
Protest me
You will disappear

I want to know who's allowed to breed
All the dogs who never learned to read
Missionary politicians
And the cops of a new religion

A fire burns today
Of blasphemy and genocide
The sirens of decay
Will infiltrate the inside

really? I haven't heard anything from the album at all on the radio.

of course, the closest thing NYC has to a rock station anymore played Lady Gaga 3 times this afternoon today that I heard.

Dookie was their last good album. They're nothing more than political activists at this point. Nothing to see here.

Yeah, the Chicago area's rock station Q101 has been promoting the crap out of it for the past month or so. The first day they got the single, they played the song every 10 minutes after the hour, for every hour during the morning.

I don't think I've listened to the whole song, once it comes on I can only listen to about 30 seconds worth before I have to switch the channel. And I actually liked the last album while most weren't so fond of it. Just this new song is too repetitive and really gets annoying.

Wasn't American Idiot their last album? That fucking album was more popular than porn when it came out. It was ri-god-damned-diculous how many dip-shits loved that album. What do you mean most weren't fond of it?

PS: that doesn't mean that I think it in any way deserved being so popular, I was wondering where you got that most people didn't like it. FYI, this forum doesn't count as 'most people' or 'the norm' in any way.

because actually singing about things beyond lounging around the house all day jerking off and smoking weed is a terrible thing

do you also think that the Beatles peaked with "I Want to Hold Your Hand"?

I don't need uneducated musicians' political views, really.

Shenanigans was the band's last good release.

Not to mention the song flat out sucks. It's no help that the radio stations are so eager to cram it down our throats playing it every hour on the hour, practically.

I used to listen to Green Day when I was in middle school.

I listened to some of their more recent stuff and it was so preachy I couldn't do it. You're a goddamn punk rocker, nobody gives a shit what you think about politics.

Well they are punk rockers, so...

From Wikipedia
Punk rock is a rock music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music, punk rock bands eschewed the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. They created fast, hard-edged music, typically with short songs, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics.

Who knew? 😕

LoL. Green Day's lyrics are quasi anti-establishment. I guess my point is simply that they sound more and more like whiny little bitches, just like the majority of their current-day 7th grade fans!

Mommeee and dadeee won't let me get a new iPod! I hate America!

LoL

Not bad, but probably won't buy it. Not nearly as good as Stop, Drop, and Roll. I'm considering forgiving them for "Wake Me When I Puke in my Mouth".

Comparing Green Day to the Beatles?

you CANNOT be serious. GTFO.
