New Graphics Card

Im looking to buy a new GFX card. Im currently running a Asus 9550, which i understand is a really lame card. i was looking at the weekly special and i came accross these cards. Which of these should i choose?? which would be a good upgrade from what i have...i will be using it for 3d applications, photoshop, video/audio editing.

the 9600XT is slightly faster then the 5700 ultra, substantialy faster then the 5700, and a hell of a lot faster then the 5700 LE.

so the choice between the 9600xt 128MB with tv tuner and the 9600xt 256 mb without tv tuner remains.

the 256mb isn't really faster then the 128MB version. as far as i know; by the time the card would build up screens of a size requiring 256 mb of memory, the GPU would not be up to it. i would go for the 128 MB edition, preferably from a trusted brand. i use this one: click">http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=14-121-509&amp;depa=0</a> and am very pleased. it's the one without tv tuner though. the one you picked is an original ati, wich are supposed to be very good.

whats ur budget? Why not spend some more and get a 6600GT? I mean that will be atleast 2x the speed of any 9600....And for about $200, its a great deal.Or get a 9700 for $100....No point getting a 9600 or 5700...They are pretty much outdated and wont play to many new games at medium high settings.

6600gt all the way, i had my 9800 pro clocked to 500+/400+ and couldnt even compete with it in benching.

Beats the 9800 in every benchmark by a small margin at about the same cost.

Rofl Taud. 6600GT or even the 6800. The 6800's sometimes go for new 200 prices..about the same as a 6600GT, you just have to have quick fingers!

A 6600GT is better than any 9800. But a new video card probably won't do much for you in those areas (at least not for video editing; maybe it would help for your 3D rendering, but I don't have the financial luxury to play with that at 14).

9600XT not from CC, and a separate tuner card.

If gaming, a 9600XT for $120, else go above $200 and get a 6600GT.

If those 3D applications use the video card's hardware, then an upgrade to the 9600XT wouldn't be a bad idea. However, if they don't use it heavily, you won't notice a bit of difference, outside of games.

As far as the 9700s go, I just got one and it seems to have some compatibility problems...try to stay on mainstream ones, cuz than more ppl will have the problem and it will get fixed. =D

Except for NF2 IGP, a crappola AGP card should be superior, even w/o 3D use.
