New graphics card, PC won't post

New PC that's a month old, but was using an old 8800GT until i got new graphics cards. Just bought 2 new ATI 6970s for crossfire. Tried booting with just 1 and the fan was INCREDIBLY loud. It actually did seem like the pc posted, and the display juts wasn't recognized. Tried different things with the PCI-E power connectors/display connectors. reseated the card, nothing. Tried the other card and it seemed normal, the fan wasn't on full blast like the other card, but no display recognized still, didn't seem like it even is posting. My motherboard advertises PCI-E 3.0, but on the board it says PCI-E 2.0. I'm wondering if that may be the issue?

*Please delete. Feel kind of stupid now. I was only plugging in one of the 2 PCI-E power connectors.*

Specs:
cpu - i5 2500k
Motherboard - MSI Z68 GD55 (G3)
PSU - Corsair TX850w
Sapphire HD6970
