Hello,
I would like to upgrade my system,
I think the graphics card would be the first thing to replace?!

My system:
Athlon XP2600+ @2GHz
ASUS A7N8X (nforce2)
Ati Radeon 9500
768GB RAM@166MHz
WD 120BB (120GB)

Is a GeForce 6600 a good choice?
At which card the CPU would be the bottleneck?

Thanks for your input!

You will see the most obvious and immediate speedup from a faster video card, yes. Your cpu almost certainly can keep up with any video upgrade that would be a reasonable add-on to a system thast age and power (I'd say to spend no more than $250 on an upgrade to a system like yours, personal opinion). The 6600Gt is a very good choice right now.

Pricing should be making some new adjustments with the addition of the second 7800 video model in the upper levels, the lowered 6800 pricing, and a new X800 in the price range as well.

Thanks for the responses!!

It seems the 6600GT is the way to go. Let's wait a few more days until probably the 7800 generation has adjusted the pricing more to my favor. But ~$160 is I think a reasonable investment right now.

BTW: Does anyone now where/how I can compare my actual Radeon 9500 vs. the 6600GT?

Thanks!!
