New graphics card. Do I need the auxilliary power supply?

I'm upgrading my GC from an 6200LE to an 8600GTS. Both nvidia, so I don't think I need to change the drivers. Abit IP35-E mobo.
The 6200LE didn't need the 6-pin supplementary power connector. I did use the Auxilliary 12v power connector (ATX4P1) for PCI Express slots. Will I still need to use this power connection even though I'll be using the 6-pin supplementary power connector? Manual said nothing.
