I've always hated texture aliasing more than other aliasings. It just seems to be right in my face. Texture aliasing isn't that much of a big deal anymore, though, since we have Nvidia's High Quality setting and now that shader aliasing started to appear in 2005.

Noticed in CS:S, Italy, the reflections on the ground of the Terrorist tunnel with all settings turned on. Shader aliasing is caused by low shader resolutions with high contrast to nearby textures. These are low resolution blocky shaders. You can't see the blockiness by just standing by it and looking down, I don't think. But if you are in free look, and you zoom in as much as you can. At a distance, all you can notice is the aliasing or shimmering that's caused by it.

As quickly as we got rid of those pesky transparent texture aliasing, we are presented with another problem. This could be the reason as to why Nvidia and ATI are not taking Trilinear filtering seriously.
