New Grados Sound Awesome but are Very uncomfortable...

My new grado sr-80s came in as some of you know. They sound great but the new earpads with the whole in them hurt my ears after a while. Any ideas on what I can do so I can wear them for prolonged periods?
 
Which pads did yours come with?

Nevermind, I see you have the open ones...

I believe you can buy the closed ones. Mine came with the closed & I paid extra for a set of open (sound quality was/is much more important than comfort to me, & the open have suited me fine).

I actually have some somewhere around here, if & when I find them they're already promised to another AT member.

Do the senn pad mod on them I did it on my grado sr-80's and it made them much better for prolonged use...
 
glad you like them, when you get them broken in they will sound even better

and i think im the only one who does not find the grado pad uncomfortable

ohh i thought i just had overly large or funnily shaped ears 🙁
oh i listen to mostly mp3s so not sre they can sound better w/ teh audio compression
 
and if you wanna expirence just how awsome thoes headphones are, if you have an Xbox and Halo fire teh game up and run the sound through a reeiver and use the headphones, simply amazing
 
unfortunately i have no xbox...but i do play cs/d3/mp3s on the comp with it and use that instead of my koss ksc-50s on the ipod when i'm @ home

they will the bass will become fuller and highs chrisper

after like 30 hours of play they will warm up and be better

can since noone knows how i can make the earpads less uncomfy on the side note
can you recommend a good pair of earbuds? i'm sure everyone in the subway and library can tell waht i'm listening too from the way my ksc-50s are leaking everywhere? i don't want to spend too much though.

yea any game with nice sound woudl also work, halo just has such great sound FX that you can really notice things

Don't really see why it would, it makes no functional difference to the headphones.

I wouldn't worry TOO much about your warranty, as long as they don't suffer from "grattle" they'll probably run forever. My first pair had to be sent back to Grado (one driver suffered from the infamous grado rattle), my second pair has been fine.

i actually got the upgrade from the 60s after warranty..the cord was acting funny and causing audio in only 1 ear sometimes until i jiggled it into a certain position

Well, that was likely due to mishandling on your part. I'd have taken it as an excuse to replace the cables.

If you're concerned about the warranty I wouldn't pull it off, but I pulled mine off long ago.

In general I don't worry about the warranty on any of my PC, HT, or audio gear. I figure I'll void it in some way eventually, I might as well get started now.

grados warrent is sweet, my roomate got his replaced/fixed when his broke cause they were dropped in the rain when he was moveing in

lol thought u guys were joking about that...i turned the pads inside out so amybe they are a little better now 😉..what do u think of the 125's btw?
