Congrats!!! UCI is a great place! :D

Got my Ph.D. in Chemistry there in 2003. Are you already in grad housing? I lived in Palo Verde most of grad school.

Physics was always my thing, they have a great high energy program (especially with the Large Hadron Collider turning on this year).

At the LHC there are two big instruments, CMS and ATLAS. UC Irvine is part of ATLAS. ATLAS is the only one expected to work :p

I won't hear back until May 15th they say, but I want to move in around June so I can do summer research. The Phys dept said they'll try to ensure that I get housing for that purpose.

Palo Verde is my #1 choice, followed by the other one (not visto del campo or visto del campo norte)

I'm returning to UCSD for my PhD in Music Critical Studies/Experimental Practices. Unfortunately, the program is in deep trouble right now and might not last much longer. So, who knows.
