I have a Asrock extream x58 somthing, not at work so i cant look at it and say for sure.

Was wondering if I would have any problem with a GTX 770 on that MB.

I read somplace I think on newegg that some had to update there bios on a new MB to get them to work.

hmm..never heard of that.
I use modern GPUs on 775 motherboards..so..-?
Don't believe everything you read on Newegg.

You might not have the benefits of full PCI-E 3.0 (though talking theoretical bandwidth you're nowhere near 2.0's ceiling anyways) but there's no reason any generation of card that runs in the PCI-E x16 slot should have any issues with your motherboard chipset for any board in the past 10 years that I can think of, though some really old chipsets with some newer cards might be choked for bandwidth or have some power supply issues through the PCI-E slot itself.

But for an X58 you shouldn't have any problem.
