Thinking about replacing my TomTom 1 3rd Edition. it works fairly well so I will give it to my parents, but I just want something better. I want one that speaks street names.

Price range around $200. I don't necessarily need all the fancy stuff, like bluetooth or mp3 playback but I wouldn't turn it down.

I was looking at the Nuvi 760. They have it at Amazon for $229. I've seen it on sale occasionally for $199 though.

Any thoughts?

My bro heymrdj just got a 760 last week and got it in Monday. Definitely nice unit. I think I would have gone for the newer interface 765WT though. Doubt that newer interface is worth the $200 price jump though.

i'm not paying much over $200 for a GPS unit. I'd stick with my TomTom before I'd pay that price.

Exactly, at $200 IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a better unit for the money than the 760. The interface is still easy to navigate (Doesn't support 3D maps), the bluetooth is a great feature for driving, spoken street names, rerouting destinations etc. It's a really solid unit. Only think I would have liked to see out of it was Lane Assist but again that's only a unit of a much higher price.

Again, at $200, I dont see you getting a better unit than the 760. My brother is thrilled with his, just remember to get a dash mount kit and dont use the suction cup mount. Not only is it undependable but its also illegal in some states.

Why not go for a Tom Tom factory refurb, Go 720 is ~ $150 and Go 730 is ~$170?
They are avail at Newegg & Buy.com
