Mine shows up too.

I guess it's not much of a bother since horizontal real estate is a plenty for search results.

I cannot however stand side tab bar on iGoogle.

I noticed that side bar on google.com a while back. I hate it. Fortunately it hasn't made it's way to google.ca yet.

I think they select random people to test this stuff out on. It might not be a permanent change; just something they're trying out.

Apparently deleting a specific cookie used to get rid of it temporarily before, but it doesn't work anymore.

but I liked the old way of expanding the bar. The script doesn't work all that great but I really can't stand the sidebar.

I want my old google back. This is seriously too cluttered. Not everyone is on 1900x1200 monitors, google.

It's a ridiculous waste of space, even if you're on a high resolution screen.

I often use half sized windows so I can search for things while I work. Now, my results column is scrunched and hard to read because of the UTTERLY USELESS sidebar.

The "show options" feature did what this sidebar does much, much better.

Also, in smaller windows, the search box width is inexplicably shortened. So if you don't devote your entire screen to Google, you feel like you're entering search terms into a mobile device. Ridiculous.

Thanks a lot for that link! The extension looks perfect. For some reason, google on my computer has reverted to the classic look (thankfully), but I'll definitely try this when the space-wasting format's forced on me again.

I don't see the problem with it. It really doesn't take up any space, not like yahoo or something.
