No... Google did that for you when they changed their interface... It's a really crappy ripoff of Bing. I don't get it, if people wanted to use Bing, they'd already be using it, why the hell is Google imitating them? Bing sucks for a number of reasons, one is because it's a waste of screen space and two because Bing is slow because they have too much crap going on.. I don't like it at all...

Heh, yeah, just tried out Bing and it looks the exact same as the new Google.

So I guess I need to keep looking. :hmm:

Yeah, I tried bing yesterday too, it's the same crap. Might still give it a shot, now that it's all the same...
It's sad to clutter the interface with something I have used 0 times in the last 15 years or so...

I switched to google because of the layout in the first place, so yes, I would do that

I finally figured out what annoyed me. All the ads to the right that usually don't bother me at all now clutter everything.

What really irks me is that the links on the left are the same as on the top. Totally redundant. Also the links on the left look like something a clown would puke up. Are all of Google's graphics designers software engineers?

Seconded! And the button in the status bar the extension adds lets you access the sidebar when you need it. Perfect!

The only thing it doesn't fix is the shortened search bar. In the new format, it refuses to extend over the "sponsored links" section. So with narrower windows, you're left with a tiny search bar that fits only like 25-50 characters.

It seems to be the prevailing theme at google to go to these flashier layouts. Their search engine and YouTube are both now - frustrating.

It's really odd that google would up and change all the sudden. It's totally a bing look and feel and I'm really surprised they chose something like that. Are they threatened by Microsoft that much?

There is another solution to getting the old google look back. Use Internet Explorer 6 or use opera and tell opera to "mask" as Internet Explorer 6. Is anyone aware of a script that will allow Firefox to do the same thing??
