lol wow, came in here expecting another change, but it turns out I've been using the new gmail for months now (that video is from last year)

sure, I didn't care for it at first, but once I got it customized it took me less than a week to get to the point where it was like completely normal and effectively forgot that gmail was any other way

people really QQ way too much over things like this

Glad I am my own email provider. I hate dealing with companies like Google making changes just because. Google was awesome 5-10 years ago. They've been doing stupid stuff in the past few years though. Even Google search pisses me off now, I barely even use it anymore. That instant search crap where it reloads the page as you type is the stupidest idea ever especially on a slower machine. Let me finish what I actually want to search for THEN *I* will hit submit. You can turn that shit off, but you shouldn't have to, it should not be there in first place or at least not be default.

What do you mean by 'works better'? I haven't used Hotmail in years so I don't know what the latest UI is like

If I quickly want to scroll thru my emails, I can just hit the down arrow on my keyboard with hotmail.

With gmail, I would have to right click on every individual email to preview them quickly. Also, it's a pain if you're using a tablet/smartphone.

I know it's not an issue for most folks but I find the hotmail reading(preview) panel to make life easier when sifting thru email.

Eh. If the subject line alone doesn't tell me what the email is about, then 99% of the time it's not even worth opening.

I don't mind it, I just hate how it forces you into "compact" mode if it thinks your window is too small. Effing stupid.

So enable it in GMail. There, now it has the preview pane too.

It's all about the habits you learned while using a particular email system.

I didn't like it at first, but I forgot it even changed a few days later.

I use Compact.

My List::
1. Frames suck...I hate them. It just eats up usable space.
2. The ugly generic function icons across the top. Hard to identify.
3. The auto-collapsing labels are really annoying.
4. Themes are eyesores compared with the old ones.
5. SLOW and laggy feel of it compared with the older UI.

I like the new icons. Doesn't feel "slow" or "laggy" to me, but the fake scrollbars broke everything when I try to use it on my HP TouchPad a couple months ago.

The most irritating thing is that, when using Chrome with NO OPTION FOR A TITLE BAR, I can't see the subject of the email thread I'm reading without scrolling all the way back to the top. Still, it had that problem w/ the old look too.
