For anyone thats trying out the new Categories,

I am not getting notifications for any email going into the categories except my primary mailbox.

So all day I will see I have no mail but then I look into the app and see that there is mail.

I already went to the settings and made sure "Notify for every message" is set.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I'd like to think that we've discussed this exact issue before in the original thread here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2323324

I believe it's related to the new approach they have that labels/tabs can have their own notification toggle, so after you turn on notification you have to go to your primary tab and click on 'label settings' to setup notification for that particular label (in this case, primary tab).

Are these messages also going to the inbox? Or is this issue only with emails that are categorized AND bypass the inbox?

Settings (sync and notify) for labels seem to be managed through Settings->[account]->Manage Labels. This is separate from inbox notifications...just checking.

You have to go into each label and enable notifications for that label. The stupid thing is, then you get multiple notifications instead of one notification saying you have multiple messages. So if you have notifications on for each of those premade tabs, you may get up to 5 email icons in the notification bar.
