Trying to come up with something to do for my girlfriend. I will randomly buy her flowers and choclates (which she has some of the craziest cravings for sometimes) and gifts if I am around something that I think she might like. But I want to try to do something different for her that will totally take her by surprise but Im not sure what. What are you some things that you have given or received in the past? Any ideas? How about what is the best gift anyone has received?

my husband had a necklace made for me once.. he found a design he thought I'd like and had it reproduced in silver. to be honest, I don't really like it, the chain is too short for the type of necklace it is and while it's attractive, it's prickly.. really unpleasant to wear! BUT.. I do treasure the gesture. :)

if you're just lookin' for some nice gesture on the order of flowers and candy, then a chickflick and a box of popcorn and a bottle of her favorite beverage would probably please her.

if she's still in school.. lookin' around campus here, pretty much anything vera bradley oughta do the job.

It really depends on what she likes, what her hobbies are, her experiences in life. I got mine a hardbound copy of her favorite book to replace her beat up paperback version, which is all anyone else was printing anymore. On top of that, it was the extended "author's cut" as the original had been butchered by the editors when it was first printed. They considered it to be too risque. She hadn't even known there was an extended version in print.

Another time I got her a glass bank of a certain cartoon character. I found an original with the sticker still on it, still in the box dated from the late 1960's just like the ones she had as a child. Her mother had deliberately broken them, though. She was rather amazed that I remembered the story about them, let alone managed to track one down.

Not enough info. It depends on what her interests are, outside of the relationship and school.

The most thoughtful thing my hubby bought me was a signed galley copy of a book by one of my favorite authors.

I'd suggest a trip to a day spa, with a gift cert so she can pick some of their products to take home.

Surprise her by taking her out to a ncie dinner or something. Call her tell her to dress up and pick her up and go. Flowers and all.
