Can you spot the one(s) that have been compromised?

The top two are the ones that have been compromised.
How it works is, basically, they scratch off the "tamper proof" coating / peel off the sticker, get that #, replace the sticker over the numbers, then wait until someone purchases the card, and then quickly drain it. Obviously, this is automated.

Not a new scam.

They keep an eye on the balance and when they confirm it has been activated at the register, they use the gift card before the purchaser is able to.

Gift cards are a lot safer to purchase when they are in the sealed packages that have to be cut open.

On the left is an american express card that is in a sealed package. The publix gift card is stuck on with the gummy no-residue tape.
