People have been talking about the coming of the next generation cards. For those who don't want to sort through a long thread, could someone please provide a quick summary?

How powerful will the new generation cards be compared to the current generation? When are they expected to come out? Will any come out in AGP?

Would it be better to spend $$$ now and get a decent card (say a 6600 GT for $160) or would it be better to get an older, possibly used card for around $50 and wait for the next generation cards to come out and then buy (either a next generation card or a far-lower-priced current card)?

Rumours, rumours, rumours.....Everything's rumours right now. They're supposed to paper launch next month, they're supposed to support AGP, they're supposed to be faster than SLI, blah, blah, blah...
As for your other question, that depends on how long can you wait for next gen cards. Because they are not going to be available until 3-4 months from now, and current gen prices will fall a month after or something like that.
If you're not gonna spend over 200$ then I'd say get the 6600GT now, then upgrade when you feel like it. For 50$ you won't get any good card, even used.
