new gen geforce 600/700?

Do you reckon, a 560 equivalent could have sub 100w power consumption? I really want to cut down on power while retaining some performance.

Thanks everyone.

~660: rumors say: mid first quarter of 2012 (~march)
~680: rumors say: second quarter of 2012 (~june-july)

So the 7970 will probably have 6-7 months before Nvidia has a card for it.

Have not heard these rumors before but March is the last month in the first quarter and July is in the third quarter. Middle first quarter would be most likely to mean sometime in the middle month of the first quarter which is February and second quarter could mean anywhere in April to June. Thats assuming the rumor is true and Nvidia gets the cards out when they plan to. Do we even know if the rumor 7970 releases tomorrow or sometime soon is true?

If power efficiency matters to you, NV is not known for their focus on perf/w given their history.
I'd rather use mobile chips on desktop but I haven't figured that one out yet ;-p

Hence, I go by TDP these days.

EDIT:

Clearly, nVIDIA is losing the edge by shifting its focus on to things like Tegra, etc.
