New GeForce4 MX card strange compatibility issues

I installed a gf4 mx agp card, and apparently it's conflicting with my pci modem card. When the modem card is not in, the video card works fine, as did my old geforce2 mx pci (yes, pci) card. But when the modem and gf4 mx card are both in, windows 2000 repeatedly keeps installing my display drivers, leaving about 20 instances listed in the device manager. This also leaves my video card crippled, because it refuses to go into any mode but 256 color 640x480 resolution.

One other point, my monitor doesn't even get a signal when my motherboard posts if the modem card is in one of the bottom 3 pci slots.

I've heard of some compat problems with this new card. What is the brand name on the card and which mobo do you have? Give us your system specs.....
