New Geforce2 model: Geforce2 Titanium VX

I don't know why Nvidia has to have so many different Geforce2 models, but here's another. I was searching for titaniums at pricewatch and ran accross this new flavor of Geforce2. I went searching the web and couldn't find anything about it.

Lets start a thread on this and collect some information.

So far I've found VX models are offered by:
Asus V7700 Ti-vx
MSI G2Ti Pro-VT (MS-8836-040VX) Geforce2 Titanium VX
Palit DAYTONA GEFORCE2 TITANIUM VX
Aopen GEFORCE2 TITANIUM VX

If anyone knows what the VX is all about please post.

I did some more research, and from MSI's website:

They list the VX model as having 225 mhz core clock speed. A normal Geforce2 Ti has a core clock of 250mhz. Maybe this is just a "Value" edition. This looks like another attempt to capture more market-share and confuse the consumer.

I think I'll just buy an ATI card.

Okay... this is beginning to get a little ridiculous...

GF2 Pro
GF2 Ti-VX

GF2 Ultra

No less then 11 different models all based around the same core?!

I really feel sorry for the average consumer trying to guess which product is faster then which....

Not to mention the MX and MX400 are near identical in performance.
While the Pro, Ti, and Ti-VX are also near identical in performance.

And people say ATi is confusing with the differing clockspeeds between Retail and OEM.

Rediculous is an understatement.

Don't forget there are 64mb and 32mb versions of each card, not to mention versions with and without video outs. If you take that into account I bet you can find AT LEAST 25 different flavors out the Geforce2 series cards.

I hope they don't start pulling the same BS with the Geforce3 series

Well besides that the average person would probably assume the Ti200 is faster then the classic GF3 I see no real problems there.
Certainly better then original Radeon core which had a number of variants as well.

Ah well, at least ATi is now very clearly naming their products in terms of performance 7000, 7200, 7500, 8500 etc.
Their still practicing the Retail/OEM clockspeed differentiation though.

The GF4 should be amusing though. They've already got 3 different MX variants planned albeit based on a different GPU, along with two varients of the regular GF4 I believe. Probably bring another Personal Cinema along too.
