My friend just got a Chaintech GeForce2 GTS 32MB DDR-SDRAM. He did a reformat and a clean install of everything. The problem is that some games work wondrously (Deus Ex) but others (Quake III-Arena) crash to the desktop. He's tried different drivers and none seem to correct the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

What kind of motherboard and cpu? Turn off fastwrites and sideband addressing, make sure you have the latest agp or Via drivers. Does Quake crash in Open GL too? What is the agp bus speed? Check your device manager and see what irq's are being shared with the Geforce. Have you tried the 23.11? What operating system is he using. Is the video card overclocked?

Don't know the mobo but he's got a 566 Coppermine Celeron oc'ed to 850Mhz (8.5x100), 192MB PC100 SDRAM and using Windows 98 SE. The board only supports 2x AGP so that's not a problem.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system (yes, Intel systems need them too). And don't overclock anything.

Check the FAQ. There is a troubleshooting section.

If you can find out the Mobo type, (at least chipset type) that would be useful.

Go to the device manager and I bet dollars to pesos that there is an exclamation point on your video driver, I still can't figure out how to fix it. I have installed 6 sets of driversold/new/even a beta. I'm running::

GeForce2 GTS 32mb DDR
Cusl2-c mobo
P3 750

and the problems all started when I installed WindowsXP. I had no trouble until then and now I'm stuck with it since I did a fresh install.

Any ideas and I'd be exeptionallty greatfull.
