New GeForce cards crashing every game I own

I dont understand this, I've tried two brand new GeForce Nvidia cards in my computer in the last couple days (a GeForce4 MX440 and a Geforce2ti) and they both crash every game I own.

All I'm trying to do is improve my computer's performance on my games (Everquest, GFA3, Spiderman) from my ATI Rage Fury Pro. Instead I'm getting no performance.

Any ideas? Do I have something set wrong?

Sounds like you`ve some old ATi driver files in the registry still which could be conflicting with the Nvidia drivers, two options are to go through the registry and clean out all ATi files or the easier way would be just to do a reformat and clean install of OS again.

ATI uninstall guide for 2k/XP .

Yep, most likely old-driver cross-contamination. (Can I TM that expression?)

In addition to clearing out your system of old ATi drivers, make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system.

I fubard this as well when first setting up my new computer... kept getting WinXP BSOD lockups whenever my graphics card was needed ( game nonwithstanding )

Stupid me forgot taht all BIOS default to PCI card. A simple change in the BIOS to let it know that my primary graphics card was AGP and not PCI and all problems went away.

Stoopid User :p

Good luck!

Bad driver installation order it sounds like..
if you install the drivers first thing, before anything else (for example when you first setup a PC)
you can get 3d problems for sure.

it's happened to me...
