The latest Gigabyte MB has Promise ATA 100 RAID, rather than HighPoint, as well as some other reliability/security features, especially DualBIOS.

Most comments on A'tech and other forums seem to say that Promise RAID - previously only available on a PCI card, I guess - is demonstrably faster and
more reliable than HighPoint.

Not an overclocker's first choice, but for someone who puts reliability first AND wants both RAID and an available ISA slot, might this be a better choice?

If this isn't in the retail channel yet, which mail/net order houses might be the most likely to have it first?

340mopar - haha, good bump :)

Well, I have also heard plenty of problems with HighPoint controller. And on the other hand, Promise controller seems more promising.

If you guys can wait, give me a bit of time and you will see something on motherboard that's related to this topic! ;)

However, I can't really test the RAID performance though, since I only have 1 hard drive.. :|

And one more thing. The KT7 still has the multiplier settings, which I think (I haven't confirmed yet) the Gigabyte one doesn't have. Moreover, stability is an issue too. Yet have to see how stable the Gigabyte board is.

Well, if you talk about o/c, then Pro2 is definitely a good contender with the KT7. However, if you come down to RAID, you will have to get another controller card for the Pro2, which will also use up a PCI slot.

So I were in the market for a RAID board, where o/c is a second issue, then I might tend to KT7-RAID more.
