nice. if you look around for coupons, www.techbargains.net, you can get a dell 2005fps for as low as $380 w/ tax, and it's 20" widescreen with even more features then the gateway, plus 4 video inputs.

Thanks, Mik3y.

Is there a reason (besides price) to go w/ the Dell over the Gateway? For HDTV viewing it appears the Gateway is good to go - plus it has the 8ms response time and Faroudja chip (my DVD player has that - supposedly really helps).

Assuming I don't mind paying about $600...still the the Dell??? Thanks.

I would go gateway it supports that new anti piracy technlogy for windows vista i doubt that they will make it if they do they will crack it but 8ms and 75Hz refresh rate is pretty nice.

I think I heard a about a couple of mediocre reviews, but I agree the specs are mighty tempting.

Dunno about the return policy - guess I'll find out after I hit Fry's today to make sure nothing there (much cheaper) catches my eye for whatever reason.

I've heard it implied in other forums that Best Buy carries or will be carrying this monitor. If that's true, you might be able to arrange to fully test your monitor before you take it home.

Edit: this, of course, assumes that Best Buy exists in your neck of the woods.

Thanks Arcas - I went to BB and picked it up. They didn't have it setup on anything interesting, but I went for it anyways. I'm extremely happy w/ it. I'm not very demanding (it's my first LCD), however I will say when I hooked it up to our HD Moxi Box (component cables) it looked awesome as a TV. As a computer screen it's great as well - I couldn't notice any ghosting playing CS:Source. I will say the uber-vivid colors (using the DVI cable for the computer) were a real welcome change.

man, anandtech is full of dell fanboys

...
the gateway has a better response time, and supports HDCP...
the dell does not...
although both of these use the stupid resolution of 1680x1050, which is not especially good for 720p, since u have to streatch the image, and not enough for full definition 1080p

actually, the panel is made by phillips all dell does is put there name on it people dont buy it because its dell they buy it because its cheap and great performance you can get them for 350. if you knew anything about lcd's you would know that ghosting and motion blur is about the panel type and than the response time. a 25ms s-ips panel competes with a 16ms TN panel the 2005fpw has a s-ips panel. just in case anyone didnt know the 2405fpw actually has a worse panel than the 2005fpw.
