Hello to all. I am looking for advice/opinions on a new gaming computer. I have researched this for about 3 months, including reading this board and others daily.

This rig will be used for gaming purposes only. I will have the computer built and I will not be doing any overclocking. The items I have questions over are the following:

1 CPU: FX55 vs 4000+ vs 3800+
2 1GB RAM: Please recommend
3 GPU: ATI X850XT PE vs X850XT (Is the premium on the PE worth it?)
4 PCI express motherboard: Which one?
5 Power source: Antec Truepower 480 vs Neopower 480 (Is the Neopower worth it?)

My goal is to play HL2, Doom 3, MOHPA and other FPS at 1280X1024 as I plan on obtaining the Hyundai L90D+ monitor.

I can afford all the top of the line, but was brought up not to waste money so my concept is to buy something better if it is worth it.

Thank you for taking time to help an admitted NOOB.
(Oh yeah, current rig to be given to family member.)

3800+ for price/performance.
1GB name brand RAM (Corsair/OCZ etc) - at least DDR3200, if not higher (if you want to OC)
Probably the X850XT, depending on how much less it is.
Or if you want to save more, a 6800GT or X800XL.
Dunno.
Dunno.

Best bang for the buck: 3800+

If you're going to be overclocking, get Crucial Ballistix memory. Otherwise just get any matched pair of 512 MB DIMMs with a good warranty. I like the regular Crucial stuff. If you have the money, consider getting a pair of 1 GB sticks. May as well max out an otherwise loaded system.

I would stick with the X850XT

Neopower would be handy if you plan on overclocking and/or having a bunch of drives in the system.

1. 4000+ (clawhammer) or upcoming 3800+ winchester
2. any name-brand 2x512MB cas2 or cas2.5 PC3200
3. x850xt but I would prefer going for x800xl that's closest to msrp
4. dfi nf4 ultra-d or asus a8n-sli
5. with this much hardware i'd go future-proof with enermax 600-watt noisetaker ver2.0

Thanks for the replies. I started to lean towards a choice between the 4000+ and the 3800+ with the new prices and away from the premium FX55. I do not want to think about upgrading the CPU for 2 years. With this in mind do you still lean to the 3800+ or is the 4000+ worth it from the standpoint of future proofing?
