New gaming system opinions?

I'm building a second system and wan't it for extreme gaming. I like both Intel and AMD, so I want to know if I should wait for the 800 FSB P4's or go with the Barton 3000? Not Intel vs AND, I want to get the most for my money but will spend extra if it's worth it. so is the Springsdale that much faster to justify the cost.
