I think you need a faster graphics card for 4k gaming. A 2080 ti would be best or a 2080 or a Vega VII. You won't get a 60 fps minimum on every game even with a 2080 ti unless you reduce visual quality settings.

Yeah, even as powerful as the GTX 2060 is, it's not really a "4k card". Not for 2019 AAA gaming, at least. Maybe for 2017 and older games.

Given my 1080p experience with my i7 8700 non k, the above link has charts showing that for BF5 your just as fine with a 8700k as you would be with a 9700. For 4k at least for me my cpu is VERY far off from being a bottleneck with my 1070ti and would be prob with a 2080 ti as well. Could save some bucks and go with a cheaper motherboard and a i7 8700 non k but if you do any work on your computer then maybe ignore this suggestion all together. For a browsing box and gaming for 4k the i7 8700 non k has been amazing for me.

Gpu wise you could go with anything from a 2060 to prob a 2080ti and just adjust some settings as needed but going max on anything but a 2080 ti prob isn't happening.

Edit: I suggested a i7 8700 non k build as it could open up more of a budget for a gpu. Planning a possible 2060 purchase for your build just suggests to me you are on some budget but then again with a 9700 cpu as well maybe not? Could save even more going with a Ryzen build?

https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-2700/p/N82E16819113498 $209 for the Ryzen 2700 and it comes with The Division 2 and World War Z!

Then the sky is the limit then on price. Your op didn't mention that usage but some may argue that a 2700 which is looking to be $200 cheaper at this very moment on Newegg may be better with a RTX2070 then a $409 9700k with a rtx2060. Heck you could move to a 2070 picking up the 2700 build and even have some wiggle room in that budget still left over.

You just appear to have some sort of budget given your original choice of a 2060 though.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Ryzen_7_2700/12.html

When a 2700 under a cpu bottlenecked situation can hit 170 fps in BF1 then yeah there is a very good chance this chip can hold up to several gpu upgrades before becoming the bottleneck itself at 4k. I can't get a 60fps min or a 75fps or so avg myself with my 1070 ti at 4k without disabling ambient occlusion, dropping effects and lighting to low. So as you can see i got prob even more time to upgrade gpu with my 8700 before i even run into that 262fps limit.

The cpu is rarely what holds back fps when gaming at 4k

Exactly its why even something like a 2700 currently at $209 on sale would be perfect. It offers plenty of performance now and on top of has 16 threads for when games really start pushing those threads.

Due to previous goals with my build which was more 1080p max fps performance, the 8700 was my choice but if i had plans for 4k much sooner my cpu choice would have been something quite a bit cheaper and obviously Ryzen based.

Edit: I may even be as crazy as to see if my spare 8350 rig would even bottleneck this 1070ti at 4k. Purely academic of course but from what i see with BF1 gameplay videos their fps is certainly higher at 1080p then my 1070ti was delivering at 4k. Their fps was hugging closer to minimums of close to 60 but with cards like a 1060 it seemed nearly balanced.

Could maybe drop in a used 3770 non k and be set. With 16gb of ram yeah it may be the cheapest route to get a bit more performance out of that system. The budget you had could be entirely used for a gpu like a RTX2070 or used 1080ti perhaps? I had to shut off ambient occlusion, lower effects and lighting to low and shut off aa to make sure i got a constant 60fps in BF1 with my 1070ti which i believe is 2070 performance?

BF1/BF5 simply love threads, Given you want a constant 60fps its prob not gonna happen period with that 2500k and if so your still dealing with stutters or pinged out cpu usage.May not be bottlenecks maxed out but still dips below 60 and some very likely stutter.

If you was playing something like Overwatch then yeah leave the system as is but your talking about a 60fps BF experience.

I may buy 9th generation later but for now i can get gpu only plus 650watt enough for 1660ti or rtx 2060
