Hello,

My gaming desktop just went apeshit and it's basically gone.
I'm looking for some recommendations for a gaming laptop that will match or exceed my previous important specs (A64 3800+ and X1850). My budget is 1.7k to 2.1k...

It seems that the nVidia go 7900 series cards seem to be the next up mainstream mobile graphics card to match/exceed my X1850, but I'm not sure.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You can build a gaming desktop that won't go "apesh!t" for much less...

What happened to it?

If you insist on a notebook, E1705 is your best bet.
 
I agree with "NoGod".... go for the DX 10 video Laptops... avoid any "7000" series video and look for "8000" series video. More and more games like Supreme Commander will be taking advantage of DX10 as time goes on.

Plug in an external monitor for even better graphics
