Well after chugging it out on my now-defunct P4 rig for 4 gruelling years I have finally gathered enough funds to build a new system.
Apart from casual computing this system will be primarily used for gaming, preferrably giving me 1-2 years to bask in graphical goodness. As of now I'm running on an 17"LCD, but I plan to go for a 22" in the near future.
Seeing as I'm from Poland I'll give you guys the price in euros, which should be numerically equal to $. I have amounted up to ~1500euros/dollars.
I have no clear brand preference, my loyalty lies with the most powerful parts on the market.
Although I have been out of the loop for quite some time, I've been browsing tech sites such as this one for the last two months or so, so I'm not completely uninformed.
I plan on ordering the parts as soon as the G200s are in stock, which should hopefully be next week.
Anyways here's what I've come up with so far, any suggestions are very welcome.
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3ghz
I plan on overclocking it as soon as I get some more cash for a retail cooler, was thinking of that Noctua one that was tested here a while ago. I'm hoping of hitting the 4Ghz range.
GPU
As I stated before I'm waiting on the new nVidia cards, much to my regret I can't wait for the new 4800 line from AMD as I need the PC operational before the 20th. Anyways depending on what the retail price will be, I'll either go with the GTX 260 or 280.
RAM
OCZ Technology 2x 2GB DDR2 800MHz Reaper EPP CL4-4-4 Heatpipe
I'm not all that knowledgeable as far as RAM goes, but OCZ seems like a dependable brand and it's quite cheap.
Mobo
Asus Maximus Formula Intel X38
As above, my knowledge concering mobos is pretty basic, so feel free to suggest other alternatives should this be inadequate.
Case
Antec Gamer 900 Case
It looks decent and from what I heard it's pretty cool temperature wise. The 1200 is too expensive.
PSU
Now I don't really have the faintest clue what to choose here. I was thinking of a Tagan 500 W PipeRock Series. Is it any good?
I'll be going with Vista Home Premium 64 and some WD 320 drive.
Once again any input is welcome
