Feel like upgrading again for newer AAA games. Selling off my old hardware and investing into new.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Gaming, mostly.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

$500 or so, because I already have a PSU, Case, Windows, peripherals, and Hard Drives.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from.
We can't be expected to scour the internet on your behalf, chasing down deals in your specific country... Again, help us, help YOU.

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Would love to do a Ryzen build, but if an intel build comes out cheaper, that's fine too.

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

I already have a PSU 700w, Case, Windows, peripherals, and Hard Drives. I do have a 1080GTX right now, but planning to sell that and buy a Vega 56 or something...

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

I want to overclock as high as possible, as EASY as possible. So need a good board.

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

1440p @ 60Hz max

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.

Within this month

10. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?

nope. I have all software I need.

Thanks!

black friday deals abound

is the 500 added to whatever you sell your parts for?

looks like you just need cpu, mobo, ram, vid card?

No, my total budget is $500. I only need CPU, mobo and RAM. I do have the video card.

assuming
100-150 for 16gb ram
100 for mobo
250-300 for cpu

i bet you can still do a 2700x build

any idea if you want an 470 or 450 chipset?

I would prefer a 470. Don't forget, I am ok with intel too if that means saving money.

The most important thing for me is a motherboard that will allow a smooth overclock. I am willing to pay more for a better motherboard, as long as that motherboard gives me a stable OC.

I saw a Ryzen 7 1700X yesterday (ebay front-page deal) for $159.99 I think.

Yes, the 2700X is faster, and better for gaming. But $100 better?

Edit: Now $169.99 from platinummicro.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Ryzen-...-GHz-3-8-GHz-Turbo-YD170XBCAEWOF/312266834512

If you add a 240mm or better AIO WC kit with AM4 bracket, and clock the 1700X @ 4.0Ghz (or thereabouts), then performance difference won't be huge, unless you're a competitive 1080P gamer running a high-refresh-rate monitor.

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

1440p @ 60Hz max

Yeah, might as well save $100 and go with the 1700X, and OC, and live with the 0.1-0.2Ghz difference in all-core OC speeds. After all, they are the same architecture, pretty-much.
