New Gaming Build Advice

My last gaming computer build was at the beginning of 2003 with AMD XP 2800+, Nvidia nForce 2 MB, ATI 2700 pro. Things sure have changed and now I am looking to build a completely new gaming computer.
Please let me know what you think:

Not sure what to get

WILL BE USING:
LCD MONITOR: DELL ULTRASHARP 2707WFP 1920x1200
SPEAKERS: LOGITECH Z-5500 5.1 DOLBY DIGITAL CONNECTED VIA OPTICAL

I also need advice on which case/cpu fans to purchase. I would like to minimize dust which I believe lower airflow for the intake fans and higher airflow for the exhaust. I was looking to purchase 3x120mm for exhaust and push/pull on the cpu cooler and 2x92mm for intake.

I think you should use the sticky thread for formatting and the other one for component ideas.

Pretty much everything in your list is overpriced overkill.

Phenom for gaming = no.
1KW PSU = no.
4870X2 = overkill.
V'raptor = lol.
1TB Caviar Black = yes.
Very expensive motherboard = no.

8GB is grand if you've got the cash, and seeing as you're already wasting it on a Velociraptor, you must have the cash.

My last build is still running to today which I have donated and now would like to build a new one. I have always liked AMD and the modular PSU, as of the 4870x2 I figured it would allow me to run my games at 1920x1200 resolution. The raptor I agree is not needed, however I was looking to get 4GB ram ddr800 or ddr1066 whichever would take advantage of overclocking etc. My last build I did overclock to its stability limit.
