CRYSTAL SOUND CARDS
(Fortissimo II series/ GTXP series/ Fortissimo III 7.1/ Digifire 7.1)
For Win 98SE/ ME/ 2000/ XP
Hercules introduces their new unified driver structure for all their Crystal Soundfusion based sounds cards. From now on one, the same driver set can be used for all cards. This will allows for a better engineering response time to any known bugs and simplify the process of improvement to all card simultaneously.
The drivers come in two flavors:
- With DLS soundbanks (Version 6.07): , for users who wish to use the cards hardware synthetiser and MIDI soundbanks features of the card for music production. This version adds a tab in the control panel to customize the synth and MIDI settings.
Bigger download.
- Without DLS soundbanks (Version 6.07a): for most users. The control panel doesn't feature the tab mentioned above.
Smaller download.
NOTE:
The help files are available separately.
INSTALLATION Procedure
· Make sure your computer is updated to the latest version of Direct X and Service Pack (when available)
· Download the appropriate driver package.
· If you are running WINDOWS XP, make sure your network cable is physically disconnected from the computer and remains so until drivers are fully installed. This is to prevent Windows Update from simultaneously upgrading your drivers.
· Uninstall previous drivers.
· Launch the installation package (Files will be copied to C:\Program files\hercules\ audio\Crystal Sound cards)
· Follow the instructions.
Note for Windows 98 SE users:
During the installation, you may be asked for the file ?407.msg?. Simply direct the wizard to the folder C:\Program files\hercules\ audio\Crystal Sound cards, or the specific directory that you created if you chose not to accept the default.
ADDED
- Incorporated GF2 into the Crystal unified driver.
- Registry cleaner (Remove Device.exe)
This little utility will allow Win 2K/ XP user to make sure their registry is cleaned if they have trouble installing their new drivers.
It is provided as a tool and is NOT guaranteed to work for every case.
The utility can be found in the drivers folder (C:\Program files\hercules\ audio\Crystal Sound cards\Utility) and is also available as a separate download.
FIXES
- Fixed the MS Gamevoice (GV) chat bug.
- Fixed the Counter-strike (CS) chat bug.
- Augmented the numbers of available streams to prevent sound cutting in various games (Battlefield 1942 / UT 2003 / Mafia )
- Fixed muting for Power DVD in multichannel mode when HW acceleration is on.
- Fixed bug in Win98 SE and Win ME where the record source switched back to MIC on each reboot.
- 8/16 bit supported properly at all sample rates and all channel configurations
- S/PDIF input intermittent failure issues addressed
- Fixed Digital In recording at 8000 or 11025 sample rate bug.
- Fixed dynamic record switching bugs.
- Fixed playback in Windows Media Player 9
- Inconsistent speakers configuration changes issue resolved
- Various Control panel maintenance fixes.
- Sensaura acceleration settings have been clarified in the control panel.
- Various stability fixes.
Pending bugs
These issues are known and will address in future releases.
- Minidisc mode is not functional for the Fortissimo II, under all Os. Workaround: manually mute all analog inputs.
FOR THE DLS "edition"
- New DLS sound banks can't be loaded under Win98 SE/ ME for all cards. The included default bank is fully functional
