I can't I've ever been to big on the actual hardware inside them, but I can totally agree the IMac's have always damn cool. Are these new IMac's only available in the one color I see on Apple's page?
They need to add some more funky colors!

Would make a great decoration!
Unfortunately it's a little too expensive for a decoration, and it's not worth much to me as a computer.

I've already got my one Mac friend trying to tell me how much better this iDeskLamp is than my current system.

I honestly don't know how to respond to him other than "lol...anything you say". He keeps insisting it would outperform any AMD in benchmarks but I would like to see these benchmarks. Anyone?

Murph, I've got an iMac DV SE and I'll tell you this much....it's about as quick as my P3 700 with 512mb of ram in Photoshop and Illustrator but in just about everything else, it's like watching the paint dry on a humid day. The config on that iMac is G3 400MHz with 128mb PC100 15gig 5400rpm running OS 9.1. My P3 is detailed in my profile. Web browsing on any Mac running the Classic OS is just horribly slow. Hope this helps! : )

Oh yea, it won't outperform Athlon in any real world usage. It can probably outdo it in unrealistic benchmarks like spec mark etc. But MIPS and BIPS don't mean jack when the rest of the system aren't optimized for it. As for the looks, even though I'm a Mac user as well, I hate to admit that it looks really cheesy. It's overdone. The original iMac was cool but when they started coming out with 'flower power' and all those cheesy colors, I've just about had it. The only color that I thought wasn't cheesy was the graphite colored one..which is the one I own.

I really like it and think that Apple is on the leading edge of future PC design. Still wouldn't get one though, I like software with my system.

Remember people, these G4 iMacs will be the LOW end of the Apple line so they aren't aimed at being the AMD killers some people are trying to claim they are. They are interesting I would consider one for a living room or something but even the Mac forums are calling them the iTit and a knock off of Steve Ballmer's head. My GF thinks it looks like a desk lamp from the 70s. But I do like the ergonomics. The swivel head and tilt are very good.

But what is very cool is the new iPhoto software. Downloading now (free)...

NFS4, if the base of the new iMac was chrome like the mirror in your link I would want one. Hopefully Apple will release the G5 PowerMac's at Mac World Tokyo in March because my dual G4 500 needs to be replaced.
