New FX-51... want to overclock... need good HSF

I've done a bit of digging (and posting in CPU/OC but no one replies there) and cant seem to find any info on recommended heatsinks/fans for FX overclocking.... Any ideas and/or recommendations?

Thanks!

The Thermalright SLK-948U, Alpha PAL 8150T, or the Swiftech MCX6400-V are probably the best high performance A64 heatsinks out there in combination with a good fan. The Zalman CNPS7000A series is also popular 🙂

Thanks for the replies... just wanted to update you on what the purchase is... just ordered Swiftech MCX6400-V (thanks for the review NFactor!) w/ a 67cfm Delta 80mm fan!

I'll post some numbers once I get the hsf on it!

Thanks again!

Ok, as promised... here are some numbers. I'm OC'ing the cpu to 2.45ghz @ 1.6v and temps I'm getting are ~40C idle ~47-50C under load w/ Prime95. This, again, is with a Swiftech MCX-6400 HSF w/ an 80mm Delta 67cfm fan roaring above and AS5 between the sink and cpu. At stock speeds and voltage (2.2ghz/1.5v) I get ~35-37C idle and ~42-45C under load.

Anyway, that sink clamps on like a champ... I was a bit worried by the weight (its HEAVY) and size (it BIG) but after installing it, it is very sturdy.

Anyway, just FYI for anyone else looking for an FX heatsink fan.
