This is probably a simple problem, but it is beyond my scope. I am trying to make a new full back up of my system using MS Backup. I want to use my CD-RW to put the backup on CD's. When the Backup Wizard asks: Where to backup, I click my CD-RW. Then I get: g:\MuBackup.qic, You do not have permission to open this file. With my limited knowledge, this stops me. Can anyone set me straight on this so that I can backup?

You don't say what operating system you are using but...

The MS backup is not a good way to go. If you are trying to backup your entire system, it will not be able to backup any system files that are in use during the time of the backup. Given that Windows and all its processes are running, this will be quite a few files you need to run.

Second, it probably can't write directly to the CDRW. If you want to use MS backup, you will have to backup to a backup folder on your drive. Then you can burn that folder after you are done backing up if you want.

Your best bet is to buy Ghost or one of the other backup software specifically made for doing this. They work under dos and are therefore capable of making a complete backup of your system.

"Backup to a backup folder that you burn"?
Why the middle step?
If that way, just burn your files right to CDR.
I missed something.
