Ugh...I had a Rage3d before the voodoo2.
Terrible.
Terrible.
I swore off ATI at that point (until I foolishly went back for a 9600 -- it was a bad trip, now I am back off the ATI seductively cheap hardware wagon).

Heh ya I wonder how all the ATI fanboys can actually like them. They may be more powerful then nvidia by a little sometimes, but I and all of my friends have had nothing but problems with them. What good is a fast card if it crashes every 1-2 hours... Not to mention their driver package I won't go into that one....

Hm....for some reason, I actually like the ATI control center better than the Nvidia drivers.

<shrug> ATI stuff has always worked well for me.

Savage 4 was my first...totally happy till Win2k came and I couldn't get CS to run no matter how hard i tried.
That caused me to moved up in late 2002 to a geforce2 gts-V for a nice price. 2003 I went to G4mx420 only because my friend addicted me to anime and I needed a tv out and someone on the forums sold me one for a decent price. After that in february WOW came and HAD to get a better card so i got a g4ti4200 and I don't have any plans anytime soon to replace it

I have a Velocity 128 still, that was back in the day when VooDoo let anybody put their chips on their boards. Nvidia was just starting out really, and only STB was using their stuff, thus me having a Velocity 128 and a Velocity 4400, both made by STB using Nvidia chips. Then Voodoo decided to be whores and bought STB, and put their own chips on their own boards, cutting all the other companies out, forcing everybody to turn to Nvidia for chips. Worked out well for Nvidia, not for 3dfx 🙂

Rage 3D->TNT2->GF2MX->GF4MX->R9600Pro->R9800Pro

I blew my 9800 Pro because...well, I'm an idiot. I RMAed it, got a new one in 2 FVCKING DAYS.

Beat that.

Oh, the user interface for the control center is fine. It's the drivers themselves that are extremely crashy. I switched from an ATI card that was on a CLEAN INSTALL and was really crashy, then, only using driver cleaner to remove ATI's stuff, the Nvidia card I installed was rock solid. Same system, same config, same build. (9600Pro -> 6800GT)

I did the same thing in reverse when I switched to that ATI card, and problems appeared. (Geforce3 Vanilla -> 9600Pro)

Can't get much more controlled than that.

I don't use ATI stock drivers on my X800XT, I run the Omega set, much more stable and better tweaks 🙂

Took me a long time to go to ATI outside my laptop. I went Voodoo Rush > Voodoo Banshee > Voodoo 3000 & TNT1 > TNT2 > Geforce > Geforce 2 through 4 > Radeon 9800. Laptop has a Radeon 9600 in it.
I suppose I like Nvidia as much as ATI.
