New Free MMORPG with asskicking graphics.

Well, that's one subscription model... i remember discussing that years back on another MMO forum, just never thought a game would actually do something like this. I wonder if they'll ever expand to selling items as well.

And Silk Road is new? I thought i've seen it around for at least a year.

I suppose the graphics are good for a free MMO, however glancing around the website I think it wont be appealing to anyone that doesnt have a thing for the eastern culture.

Damn this game only have bout 8 serversa and they all lagg like hell, in general game is not as good as comercial MMORPG's, but still playable.

Do they have any NA servers? Or are they all in Asia? Also, how crowded are the servers?

No idea. Got decent ping even when all 7 were fully loaded though, and they usually are pretty chock-full.

Fun game though. 🙂

My friend played in the last beta, and both of us played the current one goin on. Personally, I thought it sucked major ass. There's a reason it's free. It lacks any sort of polish or variety. It's basically a giant square with a bunch of monsters plopped all over the place that you have to grind-kill over and over and over for the various missions. PvP is fun, that's about it, but you cant PvP without devoting a lot of time to the game. Unless you're broke as hell, $40 for Guild Wars is worth the much better experience, and I don't even like GW that much either.

it's a gigantic grind, with no other content. like lineage 2, except a lot worse. i'm only level 10 at the moment, but i don't see any significant content anytime soon. i'm not sure what the threshold wealth- and level-wise is to participate in any decent pvp, but that's this game's only high point.

The grind gets lessened significantly if you start attacking enemies "above your rank" 😛 you'll either get your ass handed to you in short order, or gain a SP every other kill and level every 10 or so. 😀

On PvP ... it's not too bad, but the apparently lack of any identifier as to your opponent's level (Either that, or I'm just too blind to see it) can be really bad. Or good, depending on what side of the deal you're on. 😉

I've been playing SRO for a few months now and have a level 42 character on the Aege server. It's a pretty fun game. The quests keep the grinding more focused than some other free MMORPGs I've played though it can still get monotonous.

The lag can be horrible and I've died countless times because of it. It's very frustrating. In the next few months they'll be adding a vietnamese server and blocking those ip addresses from our servers. A lot of vietnamese play the game so that will hopefully help the situation.

Regarding identifying what level your PvP opponents are, you can figure it out by what gear they have equipped. It just takes a little time to learn what certain level weapons and armors look like.

got a quick question. i'm not sure how to sitribute my skill points. should i be concentrating on one discipline? (i'm a spear/glaive user) or should i be skilling up different sets that complement each other, maybe healing, or a damage force art, to increase my dps?

Hehe, no big deal.

Early on you may want to "SP farm" which involves keeping your highest skill mastery several levels behind your character level. The more levels it is behind, up to 11, the more skill point exp you'll get and the less regular exp you get. You level much slower this way but the end result is you'll have thousands more skill points to spend.

If you don't SP farm you're going to want to stick to one or two types of force skills and one set of weapon skills. Otherwise you'll be spreading yourself too thin.

If you're putting all of your stat points in to intelligence you'll want to focus on getting the cold/lightning/fire "nukes". Nukes being the ranged elemental attacks which you can get at level 30 iirc.

no free game is as good as a commercial game.

free or good - pick one.

That seems like a very generalized statement. Obviously the company that developed the game is a commercial entity, it's just a different way of making money from the players.
