Fortinet is known for security "appliances." One of my former ISPs had one. Based on how much malware I successfully downloaded through their Fortigate, I wasn't too impressed.

Of course, that was then, and this is now, so who knows. Anyway, they're a known company, so if you feel like experimenting with their software, it's safe to do so.

Good thing is you can unselect what you dont need, so if mainly interested in outbound control without Hipsy monitoring rest can be excluded from install. Modules can also be uninstalled/disabled later through add/remove. I dumped av, antispyware from start because I use MSE. Has many smaller processes, 7 or 8 with firewall only! use like 20-25mb as private working set, on 64bit Vista. Not that bad. I tried it because interested in Webfilter. Looks a lot like OpenDNS just with even more categories. Can add own url for blocking but does not seem to accept lists - also very ugly blocking message = cant really be used for adblocking ;) Outpost is way better for that.

App detection must be very weak since many popular programs is not categorized, including some Microsoft stuff. Not so important.

There is a scheduler module I thought could be wasted so disabled service and rebooted. Not a big success since nothing started up.
