Alright, I have gone through the submissions, culled out the ones that were too similar to each other, or that kind of drifted away from what this forum is for.

Choices are in no particular order, just go ahead and vote.

"Mobile Devices & Gadgets"

That is the only one that covers them all.

Of course, it should include "except Apple", too. ;)

Not a fan of the mobile devices name, makes it seem like laptops should be part of it.

I guess to me I don't really make the distinction between a device and a computer... is it no longer a device once it has spinning fans and drives? Already you have to find SFF, notebooks, pre-built/barebones blah blah blah... to get to a notebook forum. Just my opinion.

The line is blurring, but a laptop is not a mobile device, IMO; it is a mobile computer.

Well the biggest difference is the Operating System. Mobile devices use OS's designed to be mobile and laptops don't. I can understand why some may lump them all together though.

Those are fair enough points. I guess when I think of mobile devices, I'm assuming phones, tablets, gps, handheld devices, etc.

I like it the way it is. Notebooks and netbooks are mobile devices regardless of whether or not they are computers. An iPad is a mobile computer. So are tablets. I guess a main discriminator is "handheld."

I disagree.

If I hear "Apple Device", I think of an iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. I do not think of a MacBook.

On the other hand, if I hear "Apple Computer", I do not think of an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. I think of a MacBook or iMac.

FFS... I was writing a lengthy and well thought out reply, then I posted in the poll and my reply was erased. I'm blaming internet explorer.

I dont' feel like typing it all out again... but my point was that the forums are a giant clusterf*ck as they are so a name change won't help anything. If it's just because we're bored then we can change it, but if we're trying to better define things then there's no point.

Mobile Devices & Gadgets was the winner by a wide margin. The forum name has been changed. Now we are just waiting for them to update the sidebar.
