New Forum software is just lousy!

I have been trying to feel the love for the new forums but I just cannot.

1. Tooooooooo White even with the modified skin.

2. Layout is crappy, ie login button does not appear until scrolling around.

3. I just cannot stand the look and feel of these forums. It gives me a headache to look at them for much time.

After many years of being on Anandtech I can barely stand logging on due to these issues.

I've been using Ken_g6's vBulletin theme but reversing it for a darker theme using Stylish

..and if you want to make it look like above in Firefox (Chrome is different)
add these lines to Ken_g6's vBulletin Stylish theme to reverse it

Have you tried the "In a Forum Darkly Theme"? Looks pretty dark and a lot easier on the eyes for me.

My only complaint is the Search function is mostly broken.

In fact, there have been times I couldn't even find one of my old Anandtech posts unless I actually left the forum and searched outside through Google.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by disjointed. Are you upset with the way the forum categories are arranged? If you are looking for a darker theme I recommend the one I am using "In a Forum Darkly Theme". Here's a screen shot from my current set up:

Yeah I use it too, very nice. Otherwise it's like staring into a light bulb (I also use a dark theme for all computer work for that same reason).

The VB mod is not bad, but the white IS bad. It reminds me of windows 10 and is actually one of the main things I hate about windows 10. Too much freaking white and empty space.

If you switch to the VB mod it's mostly usable.

Same here. Mine reset the other day and it was almost scary. I had almost forgotten how WHITE the basic theme is!

Forums still suck. I have tried the various alternate themes. Why doesn't the AT forum management just make it easy for us to get a readable and usable forum?

go to last read doesn't work, but then it didn't on vb either.
