New forum request: Computer Audio/Sound cards

Can we have a "Computer Audio" forum? I think it is more than warranted. I would rather have it "Audio" or "Computer Audio" than just "Sound Cards" That way we can expand the topics to include discussions of technology, applications and computer music (MIDI, electronic and mp3 junk).

Thanks!

Brad

That's actually not a bad idea. I think the number of audio threads are getting to the point where it might be warranted.

I think no. there is not enough discussion about sound cards to warrant a "Audio" forum, and this is a computer hardware site, not a everything site.

That would be cool! But the forum should be called Compuer Audio/Other Audio... Cause rigged to me computer is my Pioneer Amplifier, which is linked off to a whole load of other speakers... I would be classed as Other Audio! Sound cards would be good but I would think it would go under General Hardware won't it?

Yes, I agree "Computer Audio" is best. I personally do a lot of MIDI sequencing, recording of audio tracks, and mixing them togher... this is all computer related.... software like Cakewalk, Cool Edit, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc... can all be included.. as well as audio for games, DVD movies, mp3s and sound cards.

As to going off topic... almost every forum here goes WAAAY off topic from time-to-time 🙂 We shouldn't encourage it... but it always seems to happen. If, for instance, someone wanted to ask "what is the best amplifier I can get to hook up to my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz" I wouldn't mind reading that thread at all. But if someone said "I need a new CD player for my rack system" that would probably go firmly into the "off topic" trash can.

What do the MODs think?

Brad

Yep, computer audio is on the rise. Gotta agree that it'll be heading through the roof as more people realize they can use their computer as a home theater sound system and such. Plus, the adoption of mp3 into the "upper"net will lead to the further mass marketing of mp3 compatible devices in the home, in the car and on the person.

Definately could be worth a shot, especially if the forum wouldn't be dereft of posts -without- the audio threads.
