Hello. There has been a huge amount of monitor-related questions in the general hardware forum.
Is it not time to make a dedicated forum for CRT's, LCD's and the like?

There is no end to the number of specialized forums AT could have. Personally I like looking in, say, the Hardsare Forum and finding all sorts of hardware related discussions going on. Same goes for Software, OS's etc.

I think they should combine the CPUs and Motherboards forums, and combine GH, Peripherals, Video, and cases together.

It's kind of spread out. Just my 32.6817 ITL.

AFAIK, the admins won't be creating any new forums any time soon (they usually say, "It Won't Be Happening."), but maybe the Video card forum description could be modified to say "Discussion about video cards, video input, monitors, and other graphics-related products" or something like that. :)

OTOH, I'd like to see "Software - Applications, Programming, and Games" changed to plain ol' "Software," with sub-forums (since FT4 supports those now) for Operating Systems (then the separate OS forum could be eliminated), Applications, Games, and Development / Programming. (needless to say, I doubt that will be happening either)

The only sub-forum I would like to see currently is for the motherboards, all the stickies for the specific motherboards going on there kind of make it cluttered, a temp. sub-forum to throw all those in would be nice.

I'd like to see a forum for hangnails. Everyone gets one at sometime in their life and I don't see an end to it any time soon. It would be great public service.
And while I have never suffered from hemorrhoids (knock wood) they too are prevalent in society. How about a hemorrhoid forum?

Edit: just noticed something interesting - all of the posters in this thread except the originator, Harabecw, joined sometime in 2001.
or now before 2001.

good suggestion though.

Being the displays editor, I might be a little partial to this subject. A seperate forum might be nice, but perhaps we can just expand on the Video forum to include displays. (Like Ars Technica).

Actually, maybe a good idea would be to move General Hardware to the bottom of the page so people would look through all the others first and get a clue. Good idea though

I think a neat feature with using subforums would be that you aren't allowed to post in the main forum, but when you click to read it you load every thread from the sub forums. So take the example above (with a few additions):
[Software Forums]
|--[Operating Systems]
|----[Windows]
|----[Mac]
|----[Unix/Linux]
|----[General]
|--[Applications]
|--[Games]
|----[Console]
|----[PC]
|----[General]
|--[Programming]
|--[General]
If you want to read about PC Games you click on that sub forum and only get those posts. If you want to read about all games, you click on that and get every post in all of the Games subforums. And if you click on Software Forums you get everything posted there.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that would be great.
