That's right. They friggin call you, hoping you have caller ID and call them back. After getting repeated calls from the same number (815-787-7851), I called and figured this out after hearing their retarded advertisment. I put my number on their Do Not Call list, and already had it on the national and state on and they still call me every day. Is there any type of agency I can report them to? I'm in NY BTW. They must pay.

They also have an automated machine that does that trying to get an idea of your daily schedule. That way they can either call you up when they're fairly certain you'll be home, or call with an automated message when they're certain you won't be home, thereby eliminating the need to pay people to telemarket and avoiding being reported to the FTC for violating the "no automated telemarketing" act.

F%$#ing telemarketers. I wish someone would start publicly executing the most heinous offenders. Maybe that'd put the Fear of God into the rest of 'em and get 'em to stop.

There's a number from Colorado that calls me about 3 times a day, I pick up and there's no one there. I've tried calling them to tell them to stop calling me, but it says the number is disconnected.

If you call from the state offices here Caller ID will show an entirely different number. Not even the same prefix. It's disconnected of course. Not sure how they fake it, but they do.

probably because of the use of some sort of PABX system.

get three way calling. then whenever you get a phone call switch over to three way so the person who called you can't hang up. once you get their infernal machine trapped, switch over to your cellie for good.

Don't talk to solicitors. Hang up immediately. Don't allow the phone to MAKE you answer it, exercise choice and turn the ringer off when you don't want to answer calls.

i have this box thing on my phone that attaches to the answering machine. it has a 2 digit code that people who call in can push to make my phone ring, otherwise all they can do is leave a message, haven't dealt with telemarketers since i got it. heres a link about it:

i hate telemarketers

i think it can be found cheaper somewhere, i don't remember where i bought it.

So, the only people who would get thru are the ones that know the 'secret code'? What if it is someone that you havent spoken to in a while that doesnt know the code? They have to just leave a message? And does this mean that you have to call everyone you know and give them the 'decret code'?

:)
