Enjoy 🙂

The following have been fixed.

Issues Resolved in Version 97.44
The following are changes made and issues resolved in driver version 97.44:
? Changing the default NVIDIA Control Panel Antialiasing mode to
Override mode will result in corruption in some applications.
? Battlefield 2: Intermittent random z fighting problems on the terrain.
? Adjusting the Noise Reduction causes corruption flashes when
launching a DVD.
? Rapidly switching HDTV Component format between modes may
cause the display to go blank.
? Driver stops responding in SLI mode if the system boots up with no
displays attached.
? Civilization 4: White blocks of corruption appear in the clouds when
zooming out.
? Everquest 2, SLI: Flickering water textures/reflections occur when SLI
is enabled.
? Pacific Fighters, SLI: With SLI mode enabled, there is a large
performance drop?from 100-200+ fps?in DirectX mode when
accessing the game control panel with enhanced antialiasing enabled.
? NVIDIA SLI does not activate for any application if Steam.exe is
running and the application?s resolution does not match the desktop
resolution.
? Battlefield: Objects and terrain are very dark. As you move closer, a
block of area brightens in steps as you move around the map.
? Tomb Raider: Legend, SLI: No shadows appear when Next
Generation Content is enabled.
? Splinter Cell: Double Agent Single Player has geometry corruption.
? Company of Heroes: There are flickering ground textures.

IMPORTANT:

? Splinter Cell Double Agent crashes when loading a single player
game.
To work around this issue, create a shortcut to launch the game as follows:
1 Navigate to the game install directory, then change to the sub-folder
\SCDA-Offline\system.
2 Create a shortcut to splintercell4.exe.
3 Add "-ll" to the command line of the shortcut.
4 Use this shortcut to launch the single player version of the game.

Half-Life 2 Lost Coast: GeForce 8800 GTX fog looks different than
GeForce 7900 GTX fog, and dynamic shadows look solid black.
The GeForce 8800 GTX image quality matches the Microsoft Reference
Rasterizer. This issue may affect other Half-Life 2 based engines such as
Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life Episode 1. NVIDIA is working with the
application developer to try to patch their application.

Quake4: Random pauses occur during gameplay.
This appears to be an application issue that affects testing on Quake4 with
dual-core optimizations turned on. Turning off the SMP value in Quake4
eliminates this problem

Enjoy.

Are these highly hyped new G80 drivers or are those still *rumored* in January to counter R600?

I'd like to see performance numbers.

Can someone do me a favor, please??
Can someone go into their windows/system32 directory and upload their nvapps.xml file?

I sort of keep a list of all the current profiles and since this driver is new, and I don't have a G80 card, I would very much appreciate it if someone could do it.
Thanks 🙂
You can host it here:

Or shoot me an e-mail/pm it.
Thanks again.

I'd like to see performance numbers.

I hope not. Performance is down 3-5% in Mark 05 and 06 and more (7% or so in Bf2) for me anyway. Also Rivatuner doesn't seem to work well with the new driver. Went back to the 96.94 driver.

Anyone see any increases in image quality or major bug fixes? If the image quality was noticeably better I might try them again.

In SC: DA I can now see Sam, but there's flashing textures and lighting all over the effing place...

Try setting the shadows detail option off and it will work ok.. Game won't look as it was supposed to be with full eye candy, but it's a start for the 8800 users that want to play the game..
I can't understand though wtf is so wrong that they can't fix it completely yet.. :Q

I guess NUBISOFT's code has to do with that :|

These do SUCK !

All my text was "BLURRY" it seemed, was so GROSS I went back to my lonely 96.89 x64 drivers, LoL

Nope... Once I get into the actual campaign, I can't see a goddamned thing... It's all shadows and misplaced textures.

I just don't get it...

These drivers are even worse than 97.02 and are quite possibly the poorest drivers I have ever used on a video card.

Contrary to some folks reports, I'm having decent luck with v97.28, at least so far as all the games I've been playing so far have worked! I'm not going to make any changes yet.

Well it should.. It works for everyone that has used this method AFAIK
Did you make sure that you disabled the High detail shader option and not something else?? Saving options is a PITA you have to make sure the change was made
On a side note everything works just fine with me with these drivers or at least nothing that did work now has a problem. No blurry textures nothing..
Did you properly uninstall the previous ones?...

This is the procedure you have to follow according to the G80 team
1) Uninstall NVIDIA driver using one of two methods

a) Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - Select NVIDIA Drivers - chose "remove only the following" and select "NVIDIA Display Driver"

or

b) Right click on desktop screen/Properties/Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Adapter/Properties/Driver/Uninstall

2) After uninstalling the NVIDIA driver, reboot into standard Microsoft VGA driver mode

3) Go to Start > Run > and type ?regedit"- select HKey Local Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video and delete ALL keys. Also go into HKey Local Machine/System/ControlSet001, 002, 003 (if they exist), and delete any keys down the /Control/Video paths similar to above.

3) Install NVIDIA 97.02 or higher driver

This should clean up driver remnants and provide a clean installation, yielding proper performance.

I uninstalled the drivers AND cleaned up the registry after the reboot. Don't know if a proper installation has something to do with it..

Yea, it was the High Detail Shader setting (when you said 'shadow detail' i figured you meant hardware shadows, and I didn't have the time or the patience to try the 3 other shading-related settings).

Same here..

Wow, those drivers sound pretty crappy. Maybe when the 8 series can actually work well with a game it says it was meant to be played on we can stop seeing benchmarks like this.

Note: G80 launch date: 11/08/06 | SC--DA bench: 12/08/06

I didn't know Nvidia wanted to compete against ATi/AMD in the poor driver department. *shakes head*

I have not installed these new drivers yet, but I have had no major trouble with 97.02, so I think I will keep them for now.
