as i mentioned,,i bought a floppy drive,,,is it supposed to come with a installation cd of some kind?,,,i wouldn't think so,but,,it hooked it up and it does not get detected,,
Check your cables. On the drive, the cable's red stripe usually is on the same side as the power connector. On the mobo, that stripe should be at pin 1. Usually, there's a little "1" printed on the board next to the floppy connector. Sometimes, you've just got to check your manual.
In addition to the suggestions of the 3 previous posters I would suggest that you check in your CMOS/BIOS/SETUP screens and see if the 'floppy seek' is disabled (might be called something different in various BIOSes).
Make sure that you are using the last connector, after the twist. Also, the red stripe goes to the left, looking at the back, pin side of the floppy. Not all floppies position the power connector nect to pin 1.
SOME floppy cables are keyed incorrectly, you have to cut off the plastic lug to get the cable oriented correctly.
