New fish doing just fine - What food to feed them?

Ok, I have 8 of the cichlids, 1 plecostomus. I am wondering what kinda food I need to get, pelets, flakes, or something that feeds from the bottom, like a stone of food or something. What do u think?

Is that upstairs?
You better have had remembered to fill up your tank upstairs not down

My plecostomus is over 14 years old and still knocks over everthing in the tank. I have 45 gallon tank corner tank.

Feed them every few days & only as much as they can eat in 10-15 minutes...cichlids will eat just about any food you throw in the tank, but I've had the best luck giving mine Hikari cichlid-staple & sinking carnivore pellets, along with small feeder-fish every couple weeks as a treat.. also be sure to snag a container of cichlid salt.

What type of cichlids are they? They come from 3 different lakes and have different diets. If they are herbiviorous, feeding them too much protein will give them bloat and kill them. 8 could be alot for a 46 gallon tank depending what they are. Overpopulating a tank could be a good idea thought to keep them from setting up territories and killing each other. They love fresh water so look at like 40% water changes every week.

http://cichlidforums.com/ is a good place to ask or search about food also.
