They had the "...And The Wiener Is" episode on Adult Swim last night, and I had forgotten about Stewie's "Rocket Man" rendition (the scene came from THIS mess back in 1978- a low point in William Shatner's career )

It's the one where Peter gets in touch w/ his feminine side after going to that woman's retreat for sexually harassing an employee. Can't remember what it's called though.

Wow.

I usually "get" the more offbeat references in The Family Guy, but I just thought it was a take on something Elton John on Bernie Taupin did once.

It's even funnier knowing this. That's probably one of the best episodes ever.

Seth McFarlane said that the Rocket Man song is probably his favorite bizarre reference they've ever done in the show. It is pretty hilarious when you understand the context.

thanks for the clips have the dvd, but this is easier

if u don't know much about pop culture or old movies.. u miss out on a lot of the references in family guy. most blatently obvious recent one was "north by north quahog"...north by northwest..the hitchcock film many of the scenes were straight out of the film.
