I just recently purchased and installed an XFX 6800 AGP 8X 128MB card, and man does it run sweet! Also, using Rivatuner, I was able to enable the extra pipes and shaders. I am doing no other OCing.

However, I have noticed my heat levels are in the mid to high 70s under load. I am currently using the 76.45 Forceware beta drivers from Nvidia. The other drivers I was using (official release) gave me temps in the low-mid 80s. I just don't feel comfortable running in the 70s or 80s, though I am sure it is acceptable. What can I get that will lower my running temps.

Oh, at idle, I am at 50 or so.

If you want to replace the heatsink, the Zalman VF700 (Cu or AlCu) is IMO the best you can get.

Those temps are fine. The reason you got so high with pervious drivers are because of the temperature bug. The 76.45's don't have the temp bug, which is good. Though, look at it this way: I know you're monitoring it, and it seems hot for you, though is it worth voiding your warranty over and having to BUY another component because of something you see that's uncomfortable? I know, selfish me. But like, if it really makes you afraid, then don't look at the temperatures. You're just where you want to be, if not below.

yeah thats what i did since i don't want to void the warranty - i refuse to look at my load tempa (last time i saw them they were 70) and i don't worry anymore.

under load i think that 70 is ok and not to worry about look in the control panel and see what the threshhold is, that will give you somthing to judge by and also i just put a NV5 on my 6800gt and it is pretty neat, my idle temps dont seem to be all that different but under load i have a 10 degree difference and that makes me happy like a little squrrel with a bunch of acorns stored away for a long winter
