New family member...

She's a 4 year old rhodesian ridgeback & we *think* lab mix. House trained, very good with commands (sit, shake, lay down, car, walk, ect). And we've never heard her so much as make a peep of a noise.

She was given up by her owners because they got divorced and neither took the dog to their new residence.

She'll be going to obedience school just to get aquantied to us better and to get some socialization to other dogs.

She's a sweetheart. 🙂

First night seemed to go okay. At first she wanted to sleep in our bed, but after showing her where her bed was a couple times she figured it out. She definitely has a bit of seperation anxiety though. And I'm not sure how worried I should be about it. My wife left around 7:15 this morning and I was still in the bedroom sleeping. She actually woke me up with her whimpering and whining from the other room around 7:30.

I left around 8:00 and before I did I filled a kong toy with some liver snaps to lick and nibble at throughout the day. I'm curious to see how she does. It was kinda sad to see her looking out the front door window as I drove away to work. 🙁

Which she might. Especially after being left by her previous owners. Dogs get real attached to people...

We adopted a greyhound 2 years ago but had to "unadopt" him after about a year. He had emotional issues.

have you thought about getting another dog as well? i've heard that it's better if they have a companion and this way you won't feel so bad leaving the dogs at home while you're at work.
