Okay... I was standing in physics class, waiting for students to complete a worksheet.
A moment of inspiration struck... I realized a new "extreme sport",
or perhaps a better term, a "monsterized sport."

Anyone think it's possible to make money simply from an idea? It's something that they'd definitely attempt on jackass or viva la bam or one of those stupid shows.

Edit: a clearer question is this: How do I sell an idea to a television show?

Edit edit edit: Extreme golf

I have some extra hard steel spheres for physics class (2 inch diameter) and a sledge hammer in here.
While the kids worked on their worksheet, I smacked one across the room. Hence, extreme golf was born. Imagine playing a round (or maybe one or two holes) of golf with a 1 pound steel ball and a sledge hammer. (I suppose a modified wood spliter or axe could be use as a pitching wedge)

oh, and before you ask, if there was a chance I could make even $100 selling the idea, do you think I'd freely post it here?

If I can't make money, I'll let all of you know what it is, for your amusement (and you can attempt it)

You won't be able to make money off of it unless you get a patent. And that process will run you at least 10 G's upfront. So it better be a dam good idea!

call MTV up, and prolly your conversation with them will on 20 mins boiling point. There just stay calm and your idea might be a $100 worth at least.

This reminds me of a Dilbert cartoon.

Frame 1: Pointy Haired Boss is pointing to a graph with sales going down, "Sales are dropping like a rock."

Frame 2: Pointy Haired Boss points to graph labeled FUTURE with an arrow leading up, "Our plan is to invent some sort of doohickey that everyone want to buy."

Frame 3: Pointy Haired Boss is hovering over Dilbert at his computer, "The visionary leadership work is done. How long will your part take?"

Just remember that there are plenty of extreme sports that haven't gone anywhere. I think the extreme sport craze has run its course. It might be a better idea to try to make money on a normal sport.

1. Create new X-TREME sport
2.
3. Profit!

I'll tell you step 2, if you tell us what step 1 is. ;)
